About Me.
Kassidy's best memories as a child involved her father taking her to the local—very tiny—mall every weekend where she got to pick out one or two new books to keep her occupied over the course of the week. Though she started with middle-grade horror (Goosebumps, anyone?) she progressed to multiple genres and authors, losing herself amongst the pages for hours at a time. She even got in trouble at school for reading under her desk when the teacher attempted to give math lessons.
She became interested in writing in her early teens, and exchanged works with some of her friends during choir class and lunch. Their favorite protagonists included vampires, werewolves, and the Phantom of the Opera—yes, THAT Phantom of the Opera. When it came time to pick a career field in college, Kassidy made an active decision to keep creative writing a hobby, and turned towards science. For over a decade, she dedicated herself to finishing undergrad school with a bachelor's in biology, then pursuing a career in medicine. During this time, she also met and married her husband, Chris. Ultimately, Kassidy graduated with an MD from Creighton University in Omaha, NE and then shipped up to her home state of Washington to complete a residency in the specialty of family medicine. During the pandemic, Kassidy continued her work in medicine—while her husband took several months off in early 2020, the lucky shmuck. She opened her clinic doors to medical learners in late 2020, and one had the courage to tell her they wrote fantasy and aspired to be published one day. Simple as that, Kassidy found herself reminded of her characters, and began missing their voices. It spurred her to write once more. Kassidy joined an online writing website and sought out a critique group which she now moderates. Not too long after, she dipped her big toe into the overwhelming landscape of Twitter and Instagram. She finished the first draft of the first book she'd ever written in 2021, and began hunting for its champion at that time. In her spare time, Kassidy enjoys baking, sideseat video gaming, and a yearly attendance to Emerald City Comic Con. She has an unhealthy addiction to character art and would gladly spend all her money on talented artists who bring her fire babies to life. |
